EMBRACING THE JOURNEY: FINDING PEACE IN THE PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE

Embracing the journey- Finding peace in the past, present, and future

Embracing the journey and finding peace

We must have heard this many times ‘live in a moment. Don’t think about the future, don’t think about the past, enjoy whatever you have today.’

Sounds good! Let’s keep all the problems and worries and live in the moment. But is it possible to leave everything behind and never think about what is coming in the future? Not possible for most people I guess.

You have no control over your mind. Any silly thing from the past can enter your mind and you will start thinking about that. Anything that you want from the future will enter into your and you start mulling over that.

The more you think you don’t have to think about something the more dominant that image becomes. I think peace isn’t about erasing the past or ignoring the future. It’s about making peace with them. It’s about accepting the mistakes, the regrets, the missed opportunities, and embracing them as part of your journey.

You can never forget your past neither you can leave it behind. Your mind is a huge memory storage device and you can recall anything you want. It’s all there. So why not embrace everything? It is all yours whether you like it or not. Trying to suppress them is like trying to hold back a tidal wave – it’s bound to overwhelm you.

Worrying is the worst use of Imagination.

‘Worrying is the worst use of your imagination’- I have read this somewhere and I liked it. If you keep on worrying about your future, something that has never occurred to you, is going to overwhelm you. Focus on the present, on what you can control, on the steps you can take today to shape your tomorrow.

Life is like crossing a suspended bridge – terrifying and exhilarating all at once. But instead of focusing on the uncertainty ahead, focus on how far you’ve come. Embrace the turbulence, knowing that you’ve faced weathered storms before and emerged stronger on the other side.

When I started my practicing career as an Architect and Interior I had a lot of expectations from myself. I thought things would be easy and in no time I would reach the mountains. But the reality check was petrifying. There were months when I didn’t make any money and had many sleepless nights when I saw myself going nowhere.

Even today when I see my contemporaries doing better than me I get anxious sometimes. But today I have realized one crucial thing, you can’t get everything in life. You have to make choices and that choice will shape your tomorrow. Right now I want to be a mother of my four-year-old son more than I want to succeed in my career.

I want to raise him in a family where people love each other. Where people respect each other. And I don’t want to miss any moment with him. I want to be around him when he needs me.

It’s not that I have forgotten my dreams. I still dream, I still want to succeed in my professional career. But today demands me to slow down and take a step back. I remember, initially this transition was a problem, but today I am embracing the journey and finding peace with it.

Initially, I only wanted to succeed professionally, but today my life perspective has changed. Success for me is having a balanced life now, where I have time for my family, my mental peace, and my health.

Working late nights and compromising my health is something I don’t want to do now. I have suffered a lot because of my hustle attitude. Your work is just a part of your life and not your life. So I am learning to keep them separate.

Don’t compare your journey with somebody else’s journey. You don’t know what misery their beautiful photograph is hiding.

Don’t compare your journey with somebody else’s journey. You don’t know what misery their beautiful photograph is hiding.

You will get a lot of opportunities in the future if you live long. Why worry about something that is beyond your control? Accept and embrace. This is your journey and only you can make it beautiful. And by accepting the reality, your life will seem easy.

"Live in the moment
embrace your past.
Accept that life is
like that.
You can't control
your furture.
Stop worrying about that.
You just have your present
so grab it and most of it.
And be prepared
what next adventure
life brings after that."
